Here you find the results of our course work during February and March 2003.

We are the LK English of the Otto-von-Taube-Gymnasium in Gauting, consisting of five intelligent boys, nine smart girls and not to forget our teacher Mr. Nürnberger. We decided to take a closer look at the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In this project we have summarized the plot and analysed the characters. Moreover, we have discussed the themes in the book, among these are The American Dream, East versus West and the period the story takes place in, The Twenties. The Twenties were also called The Jazz Age and the time of Prohibition. Furthermore, the development of the automobile and the women’s position in society came up as an important aspect of dealing with F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel.

We would be glad to hear your opinion, criticism, etc. on our website. Send us an e-mail
