In the beginning of chapter VI the reader gets to know Gatsby in detail. We learn about how he lived before he came to West Egg. His real name is James Gatz and he is from North Dakota. He never accepted his parents who were unsuccessful farm people to be his parents. Furthermore we get to know how Tom and Gatsby meet each other for the second time. That happens when Tom and a friend of his, Mr. Sloane come to Gatsby’s house after riding. Really fast it is clear that Tom and Gatsby do not like each other. Gatsby hates Tom, he talks aggressively towards him (cf. p.78,l.1).Moreover a party at Gatsby’s house is described in this chapter where Daisy and Gatsby first dance together and later in the evening they walk over to Nick’s house and sit down on the stairs. Also Tom and Nick talk about Gatsby and Tom mentions that he suggests that Gatsby does some illegal things. In the end of this chapter Nick and Gatsby talk to each other. Gatsby tells Nick that he is worried that Daisy did not like the party, moreover he talks a lot about the past, especially about the moment when he kissed her for the first time and fell in love.
