In Harlem public schools are bad and poor, so the kids have enough spare time to hang around with gangs in the street. But every young black in Harlem has the dream to get out of this misery situation and to get rich. They all want to drive the fast cars and to live in big houses with more than just one wonderful women or man like every teenager on the world has. The only chance that their street dream come true is to write raps and get to the studios or to play basketball on the street. For the women the only chance to get rich is to marry a rich man or to get a successful model or pop-artist like Jennifer Lopez. Of course this dream is hard to realize but even though it’s their only chance because they have no real future and perspectives with their bad high school diplomas if they got one.

Most of the men in Harlem begin to rap on the streets and in the underground clubs to wait for their luck that one of the famous producers of the large labels notice them. But in most cases it doesn’t get true. There are just some guys from the ghetto like Big L, Cam`ron, Mase, Nas or Jay Z who got rich from rapping. The others who don´t get rich often hate these guys. Of course these guys are from the ghetto and also have guns to bust. As a matter ofe facts many rappers like Big L, Tupay and Notorious Big were killed in the last few years. Till Today nobody knows anyone of the murderes in these cases.
Even today (and I think also tomorrow) rap is a small chance for the black youths to get out of the ghetto. But the industrie is hard and not easy to reach for those youths from Harlem. Also most of them will not get that rich like todays Rap-stars Eminem, Ja Rule and Dr Dre. Nevertheless it is a good thing for the black youths because rap gives them a hope for a better life in a different area of living and also rap keeps them away fom the streets for some time.
