PRISON LIFE

Do you know...
"In 1997 there were 1,725,842 inmates in Americans jails and prisons. The largest percentages of inmates are in prison on drug charges. Not because of big time drug dealers .It’s about people who had a small amount of drugs, who were harming no one other than perhaps themselves. They make up the largest portion of the inmate population. It’s surprising to know that murder, rape, etc. don’t even make the top ten list of reasons that people are incarcerated."

What does cell block A ,B ,C ,D mean?
Prisoners are categorised according to the likelihood that they will seek to escape and the risk that they would pose should they do so. Appropriate prisons are maintained for each category of prisoner. The categories are as follows:

Category A: prisoners whose escape would be highly dangerous to the public or the police or the security of the state, no matter how unlikely that escape might be, and for whom the aim must be to make escape impossible.
Category B: prisoners for whom the very highest conditions of security are not necessary, but for whom escape must be made very difficult.
Category C: prisoners who cannot be trusted in open conditions, but who do not have the resources and will to make a determined escape attempt.
Category D: prisoners who can be reasonably trusted in open conditions.

prison life -
the majority of your time you spend in an 8' x 10' cell, you look through bars from the inside wanting to get out.
The other time you can watch TV and play games, you can join many programs which you can leave at any time
For good behaviour you get time off and allow your family and friends to visit you on Sunday.
The wardens are often sadistic and psychotic, and treat you like shit. you don’t realize and just hope the time pass faster.
