In former times other little things were important for Steve and his requirements are not the same as they were once. Now he sees everything in a completely different way.

Steve appreciates many things more than he did before. He cannot buy what he wants and he cannot move away, which is the most natural thing for everyone who is not in jail.
Every life would be for Steve, in his situation, very special and comfortable.

Steven fears that his life could become like this one of the inmate. There could be only one decision of a jury which would change his life and make it meaningless.
