PRISON LIFE

Life in prison is very hard. There are plans for every day what you should do.

The prisoners have to get up early in the morning and have to work. They have to wash clothes or cook for the other prisoners. But sometimes they have to do their work outside. For example burrowing on a field. After having worked some hours they have lunch. You get your food right there or in your cell. If you would like to eat with the other prisoners you go to the lunch hall. Then you have to work again. It is very depressed. In the afternoon you have some leisure time where you can go outside and you have the ability to play something, like basketball or talking to each other. It is also allowed to write letters to anybody but the policemen frisk the letters because the prisoners donīt write everything. Plans for running away or codes arenīt allowed to write. In the evening there is spare time and their friends, families or defense attorneies are allowed to visit and talk to you. After that the inmates go back to their cell and about nine oīclock the lights go out and it is sleeping time, because they have already to get up at 5 oīclock in the morning. Thatīs one whole day in prison.Mainly the prisoners have to work and after a while it could be very solitary so it sometimes happens that some of them commits suicide. We donīt think often about the life in prison and the system. We should imagine such a day in prison and think about it ... There you canīt find comfortable things like a bath or something special to eat. The hygiene is also very bad. I think nobody wants to go there only for a day. In summer itīs very hot and the prisoners are praying for not workink outside. For your luxury goods like a brush or something like that they have to pay for themselves. They get money for working every day, but only a few cents.
